After almost a decade, Microsoft believe they have finally accomplished a goal rarely achieved in the software industry; a product that is evolutionary and revolutionary at the same time.
Following record breaking TPC-C Benchmarking performance results using Windows 2000, SQL Server 2000 and Compaq ProLiant, vendors are gearing up to ship 32-way partitionable Intel-based servers using sophisticated technologies never before used in the Windows operating environment.
Customers will want to evaluate these technologies thoroughly as they introduce them to their mission critical datacentres. Even then, to be successful requires a combination of people, processes and technology.
In order to take maximum advantage of the benefits offered by these latest developments, customers in this environment may need to review all datacentre processes.
Compaq, IDC and Microsoft
Hosted by PMP, publisher of Conspectus and International Consultants’ Guide, this briefing will address the issues surrounding the effective deployment of Windows 2000 in a mission critical environment ensuring it is both highly performant and highly available at the same time.
Taken from the perspective of three key industry players, Compaq, IDC and Microsoft, the briefing will describe this environment in which IT professionals will play a key role.
IDC will set the scene, bringing us up to date with the latest of operating environments in the datacentre. Then Microsoft, and Compaq will examine the key points needed to get Windows 2000 achieving performance and availability simultaneously.
