SpeakersRobert Houron - Compaq Computer Corporation Robert Houron’s paper will describe Compaq’s strategy for mobility solutions that Compaq Telecom is able to deliver to mobile operators for creating new value added services from mobile messaging to mobile Internet and location dependent services. Robert is the Market Development Manager for new mobile operators at Compaq Computer Corporation. He has 12 years of experience working in various product and business development roles within Compaq’s telecommunications and networks business. Earlier in his career, he worked for the National Research Centre of Telecommunications, CNET, on high speed networks with Thomson-CSF for designing communications systems for radar and sonar systems. Robin Farmer - Microsoft Corporation Robin’s paper is entitled ‘Microsoft’s Mobile Future - Helping You Deliver the Mobile Internet and Beyond.’ The paper will focus on delivering value to Knowledge Workers and will examine the following topics in depth, Information Anytime, Anywhere, Corporations Embracing Mobile, Microsoft Platforms for Mobile Services and BT Nomad. Robin is the Alliance Manager for Compaq UK and is responsible for the UK Microsoft/Compaq relationship. This role covers all aspects of the relationship, from Volume business and Channel development, Systems Integration, and Service Development. Previously Robin was Microsoft Alliance Manager for Digital UK, and also BT. Robin joined Microsoft Ltd in May of 1997. His previous positions include Managing Director of Leo Systems, and 10 years with Hewlett Packard in Account Management and Sales/Marketing Management roles. David Andrews - British Telecom David Andrew’s paper will describe the Nomad project and its position in BT’s wireless data strategy. This will be followed by a demonstration of the Nomad trial service. David will also examine practical experiences from running the trial and implementing the service. David is responsible for business planning for the Nomad service. He is also working with PMP on market research of user experience in the trial, drawing on his experience as a previous head of BTís UK business market research division. David has held a wide variety of other roles in BT. |
